[#travel + keeping #healthy] Five things I use to help avoid illness when travelling: While it’s a tremendous privilege to travel, it is also difficult to keep in continuous good health while trotting around. Good health means I can be productive, efficient and reliable. So catching colds, sickness, and lacking energy is the last thing I want.
In Canada I caught some kind of weird cold. 🤷🏻♀️
And in Pakistan I was fine the whole week and then caught a fever this weekend.
I also was visited by a funny tummy once got back to Dubai. 🤦🏽♀️
As #UncleLen would say:
Yeurk. 😩🥴
I’m glad none of these illnesses impacted me too badly, and only lasted a couple of days at most. I think mostly because I have some health related things in check when I travel.
The five things here vary based on where I go, but they seem to keep me in good health and mitigate any traveller sickness:
💦 A #WaterFilter
In Pakistan, this is a non-negotiable. Filtered water is the foundation of keeping well when I'm there.
(I rely on a #Berkey - travel size. Clunky but worthy.)
✴️ #VitaminC in Ascorbic Acid Powder form
I put a little spoonful in every time I fill #Hydro (see photo), up. It’s hard to overdose on vit c, and since the benefits are abundant in terms of broad spectrum illness prevention and recovery, this is a daily staple for me whether travelling or not.
(I rely on the #DrsBest brand.)
⚫️ #ActivatedCharcoal capsules
I discovered this years ago. When I want to eat with confidence without the runny tummy or food poisoning fallout, I supplement with this at each meal. It pulls toxins and I think it helps one bounce out of the funnies quickly.
(Most brands of this seem to be ok.)
🦷 A brilliant non-electric #toothbrush
The mouth is one of the first places bad bacteria gathers. So having a trooper of a toothbrush is an underestimated hack for keeping well while travelling.
I use #DrTung’s #ionictoothbrush. Context: when your dentist asks you what you’re doing to keep your teeth so healthy, you know it must be good. I don’t know how it works but it’s magic. No electricity needed. Nothing - not even an electric toothbrush matches how clean this makes my teeth. Sadly it seems like they stopped making these recently: my dentist says someone must have bought the patent for the technology. If you can get your hands on one (I found an obscure link in Japan and ordered successfully), It’s worth it.
👃🏽#Xylitol Nasal Spray
Keeping the nasal passages very clear of bad bacteria mitigates the possibility of bad bacteria building up. I use this daily while travelling and even if I feel a tingle of illness coming on to help prevent and stop colds from raging.
(I use #Xlear ones. Brilliant.)
Those are some of my must-packs for travel... and in general, actually.
💬💭Do you have any items you rely on to keep well when you travel? I’m a huge fan of bio-hacks and would love to know.
