[#CambridgeMENA + #Jeddah🇸🇦] 🙏🏼 Thank you so much to the teachers of #Jeddah who came to the Network & Learn event today!
We explored things like thinking like a #mathematician, making worksheets work in #Science, a peek at the big old "scary" #metacognition in #English, and how Cambridge University Press Education resources help with all of the above.👍🏾🙌🏼
A couple of my learning/reflections from the day:
1️⃣ Lots of Math and Science teachers across the MENA region are actually also language teachers - whether it's acknowledged or not (most of our learners in the Middle East & North Africa are not native English speakers). So it is really helpful to share ideas specifically for developing language in the classroom. We had lots of fun doing a solo running dictation today - have you ever tried this? Pic #6 shows the activity in action. It is so fun. Let me know if you want me to explain it.
2️⃣ If you are a facilitator like me who mistakenly prints many copies of the wrong printout - like the one with all the answers on it 🤦🏽♀️ - listen up: no need to throw away those worksheets. Simply assign this task immediately: "Check every answer to make sure it's correct please". This is probably the oldest trick in the #teachers book for overcoming a blip, but hey! Sharing just in case it's new for you, fellow #teacher / #facilitator friend. It saved my activity today. :D
3️⃣ The airport at Jeddah is really so #beautiful. I felt like I was in a magazine brochure in this lounge area. Swipe to final pic to see.
