Crafting a Beautiful Workspace for Remote Work

[#productivity + working from home] For various reasons I’ve had to #workfromhome much longer than I ever expected after the pandemic. On the plus side, as I don't have a spare room to use as an office, it turned me into rather a professional ‘space enhancer’.

I love making any space #beautiful to work in, no matter how big or small.

We spend so much of our lives working, so I think it's very important to pay attention to the spaces in which we do.

To me, it makes things generally more pleasant.

But most importantly, I've found working in a beautiful space boosts productivity.

So with a theme on beauty and functionality, this photo and post captures many of the things I’ve found to work well for me in terms of #WFH:

🎋1: Standing desk - adjustable height

(I don’t use it all the time but for specific focus tasks)

🎋2: Small set of pedals under the standing desk and/or a foot rest

(so good for admin and focus tasks, this one I use even counts steps. The foot rest is also a beautiful ottoman style one, and matches the desk mat - see next point)

🎋3: Beautiful desk mat / rug thing

(this is a very thin rug I picked up in Xinjiang, China, back when I studied there. It also helps the mouse track more accurately and is comfortable for resting my wrists on. The story of it also reminds me of the journeys I've been on. Who knew a rug could be motivational?)

🎋4: Raised platform for screen & separate mouse and keyboard

(I used a little stand and a yoga block. The mouse and keyboard being separate helps you raise the screen to the optimal height without compromising arm posture)

🎋5: Wooden cover for keyboard

(it just feels so nice)

🎋6: Physical paper diary with space to jot notes

(don't use it always but it's great for a separate reference point)

🎋7: Noise cancelling headphones

(paired with the pedal steps working those admin tasks becomes a part-ay!)

🎋8: Little bowl to house some snacks

(as per usual in this snap mine is empty again ahem as the contents were already in belly by time of photo taking)

🎋9: Being barefoot

(there are so many benefits to this - ha!)

🎋10: Scents/room sprays

(Again, not possible to capture in the photo but this area always smells good and it makes me happy)

I really like all these things. They have boosted my productivity during long periods of needing to work from home.

Oh, and one more bonus: something that helped, also featured in the photo, is #UncleLen’s signature send off -

☀️To "keep smiling". :)

Probably the most important thing when you are isolated, need to excuse yourself from a situation, or just want to get things done happily.

What do you do to help you work from home better? Have you tried any of these things? Would love to know and welcome you to share.
