[#quotableđŹ] âPeople everywhere preferred to make their own mistakes, and resented strangers (even efficient and well-meaning ones) interfering with their affairs.â â M.M. Kaye, extract from The Far Pavilions.
đOrigin: I came across this sentence while reading the epic fictional novel - The Far Pavilions. The context was colonial India, but I feel this particular extract is fairly universal and applies to learning too.
I used to mostly read only non-fiction, but I began to find that reading fiction provides so many opportunities for learning, sometimes in a deeper way to a non-fiction book. Thatâs how this quote came to be here.
I think even young children prefer to be this way too - to attempt things themselves and give it a go on their own terms, without interference.
